Do you ever feel guilty about using notes when you’re facilitating?
Notes aren’t a crutch. They’re a powerful tool, when used right. The best facilitators prepare so they can stay present.
Use notes to keep track of time. Writing a cue in the corner of your leader’s guide, like “take a break at 10:15,” can keep you on pace.
Need to shift gears? Write down your transition phrases. Phrases like, “let’s move from the why to the how” can keep your delivery smooth.
Do you have important questions you want to ask learners during the session? Writing out key questions ensures your delivery remains on track. And those questions will spark deeper engagement and discussion!
