Hello, I’m Lynne Koltookian, a native New Englander. I have lived here all my life and am now the Boston-based instructor for Langevin Learning Services. I started working for Langevin in March of 2007 after working more than twenty years for corporations in eastern Massachusetts.
My educational background includes a BA in Communications from Penn State University and a Masters Degree in Education from Boston University. I completed my Langevin Instructor/Facilitator certification early on in my training career. Although I worked many years in human resources and sales I have always been a teacher at heart. This led to my true love of being an instructor in the training profession which has allowed me to teach business professionals a variety of things since 1994.
My training philosophy is simple; I believe learning should be fun. A mentor once told me that the essence of a good instructor is someone who can make complex things easy to understand and fun to learn. I use this as my guiding principle when I teach my workshops.
Interests and Hobbies
In my free time I like to marry my two passions: travelling and fitness. I enjoy cycling, hiking, downhill skiing, and especially scuba diving. My underwater adventures have taken me to oceans all over the globe. Through the glass of my scuba mask I’ve seen sharks in Palau, whales in Maui, sea lions in the Galapagos Islands, and WWII shipwrecks in Truk Lagoon, Micronesia. When I am not under the ocean I have been spotted rafting the whitewater rapids of the Colorado River in the Grand Canyon, cycling through Italy, skiing the Rocky Mountains, and bungee jumping in the Amazon.
Life’s Biggest Lessons and Influences – So Far
Life’s biggest lessons have come from my family. I was taught early on the value of education. My parents encouraged me to not only learn from the academic world but to also learn from travelling the world. I believe that guidance is one of the most valuable things you can give to another person which is why I am so enthusiastic about teaching. For me, there is true joy in helping others succeed and get excited about learning new things.
My Favorite Langevin Moment
Hmm…there was the time that I was locked in the restroom in our Washington, DC training facility about 15 minutes before my workshop was supposed to start. There was a power failure in the building which caused the keypad console controlling the restroom door to switch off. I had no cell phone and there was no way out of the room besides the locked door! I had no choice but to wait until someone came in to rescue me. At about 7:55 am someone did come into the restroom to save the day! This was not in my lesson plan! When these types of things happen I just laugh and turn them into teaching moments in my workshops!
